Dig Into a Slice of Fresh Blackberry Pie

– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

– In a large bowl, combine the blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon (if using). Gently toss the berries until they are evenly coated with the mixture.

– Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the blackberry filling into the crust, spreading it out evenly. Dot the filling with the small pieces of butter.

If you have a second pie crust, roll it out and place it over the filling. You can either cover it entirely and cut slits for ventilation or create a lattice pattern

In a small bowl, beat the egg with the milk to create an egg wash. Brush the top crust with the egg wash to give it a nice golden brown color when baked.

Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.

Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours. This will help the filling to set.
